About the event
Join us at the Coutts Museum of Art for a mesmerizing Brown Bag Concert featuring Wayne Long and Arthetta Faye, contemporary performers rooted deeply in Americana traditions. With influences spanning from the finger-picking guitar styles of John Hurt, Merle Travis, and Chet Atkins to the high lonesome sounds of bluegrass and the innovative autoharp of Maybelle Carter, their music is an intoxicating blend of traditions that delights audiences.
Wayne’s fluent instrumental work on both modern flat-top and vintage resophonic guitars perfectly complements Arthetta’s captivating autoharp and heartfelt vocals. Together, they create an enchanting and unexpected medley of traditional folk, modern country, country blues, and original compositions, offering sheer listening pleasure at its finest.
Their musical journey has taken them from the Rockies to the Blue Ridge, gracing venues as diverse as the front porch of John Hurt’s home in Mississippi, Buddy Guy’s Chicago Legends club, and festivals across the nation. With their eclectic repertoire and unique interpretations, Wayne and Arthetta promise a dynamic and unforgettable performance.
Admission is free, but a $5 donation is appreciated to support future concerts and programming at the museum. Bring your lunch, settle in, and let Wayne Long and Arthetta Faye take you on a melodic journey through Americana at its best.
